Hi,

Can someone explain to me what the difference is between laser hair removal and electrolysis?

Hi Candyfloss and welcome to

Hi Candyfloss and welcome to the forum :)

Electrolysis and laser hair removal both work by killing off the hair follice or root. Or trying to kill it off ... sometimes it takes a number of treatments before the hair stops growing back!

With electrolysis they use a needle to direct electricity to the hair follice, while lasers target the follicle without the need to have anything physically stuck into your skin!

Good luck!

laser hair removal and electrolysis

Hi candyfloss,

Ryansmom is totally right - electrolysis uses an needle to "electrocute" your hair cells, while laser hair removal is non-invasive and it is just laser light that penetrates your skin to kill off the hair follicles.

I have had both procedures done, and laser hair removal is much better for large areas of the body, plus it is a lot less painful.

Good luck!
