My First Laser Hair Removal Consultation

Hi everyone, I am new here and new to lasering. It's been my dream for years to get my legs, bikini line and underarms lasered, as I hate shaving soooo much. So much in fact that any time my hubby is out of town I don't shave at all. One time he came back at night when I was expecting him the following day and he climbed into bed and wanted to make love and I had to shove him away so he didn't find out how hairy I was!!

I have to shave every single day as I get stubble within minutes (no not really, but hours anyway) of shaving.

Anyway, I have finally saved up for my dream of laser hair removal treatment and my consultation is next week and I am sooo nervous! Can anyone tell me what to expect?

Consultation RE Hair Removal by Laser

Dear Ryansmom,

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on embarking on laser treatment!

You should not worry about your consultation. The most important thing that the beautician will do will be to assess your skin type and hair color. As you may know, the easiest combination to treat with laser hair removal is very pale skin and very dark hair. If you fall into this category then you are likely to have excellent success.

Laser hair removal can also achieve good results with other skin / hair combinations, and your consultant will need to determine what is the best treatment regime for you.

In addition you and your consultant will probably discuss the treatment timescales. Usually you will need to go back every 4-6 weeks for lasering. Our hair follicles grow cyclically, with different follicles active at any one time, and the lasers can only target the active follicles. This is why you need multiple treatments.

Other things your consultant may want to tell you would be things like staying out of the sun prior to treatment and not waxing or plucking (shaving is fine).

So try to relax! You've worked hard to save up for this treatment and I hope it is extremely successful for you.

Good luck!
