Does anyone have a recipe for making a sugaring solution at home?
Here's a simple recipe that I've used and it works well for me:
1 cup sugar (i use normal white sugar)
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup squeezed lemon juice
small dash of sesame oil
Put everything in a pan together and bring it to the boil on the stove. Then let it simmer GENTLY for about 10 minutes, till it goes a light caramel color (don't over cook!).
Pour the hot mixture onto an oiled, heat resistant surface (like a big plate or platter) and let it cool until you can handle it (don't burn yourself!!)
Then work it into a ball and keep it in the fridge in an airtight jar.
Happy sugaring! :)
Guys, that should read 2 cups sugar, not one. Sorry for the typo! :)
Thanks very much EmmaJane. I can't wait to try this out! I just hope i can get the sugaring technique right so it's not too painful :)
Thanks from me too, EmmaJane. Good recipe!
candyfloss, try this method which is a bit less painful than the usual...
Work the sugar mix in your fingers for a bit and then spread it on a small area in the direction against the hair. Then pull it down and off in the direction of hair growth. This is the opposite of what you're normally advised to do, but it is less painful and also you tend to break off less hairs so it can be more effective this way.
it's quite a tricky technique, you might have to experiment for a while but if you persist you should get it :)
You can nce test
either buy a manufactured sugaring hair removal product, or make up a batch yourself.
