Is it safe to get laser hair removal done when you're pregnant?
July 13, 2008 - 17:23
What are the dangers assocated with laser hair removal for pregnant women? I know that x-rays are dangerous for the unborn baby, so I wonder if the laser rays will have the same risks. I am only 8 weeks pregnant and I want to finish my scheduled laser hair removal treatments but I don't want to take any risks with my baby!

Dear iamaladynotabird ... first things first - the rays used in laser hair removal are nothing like x-rays. The laser rays penetrate the skin to a few millimeters in order to reach your hair follicles and cannot get into the womb or affect the unborn baby.
So the good news is that laser hair removal is perfectly safe during pregnancy. However, most laser hair removal clinics don't take on new clients if they are pregnant. Depending on how many more sessions you have scheduled, and how long between each session, you may be OK to complete your course - particularly as your pregnancy is so recent. It would be a good idea to discuss this with your laser clinic, they may well be able to allow you to complete your treatment!
